Welcome Home Hudson!

Our family is complete!! Hudson Thomas Storey was born October 28th at 12:55 am weighing 5lbs 10oz. and 18 inches long. Another miracle! He had quite an adventure getting here. I was taken off bed rest on Tuesday but was told we needed to continue staying in a hotel near the hospital since his arrival could then be any time. The following day, I had not felt him move for several hours so we made a quick trip to the hospital for fetal monitoring. The nurse said he had a good heart rate but was not showing large dips in movement which led them to believe there was a complication with the umbilical cord. Thirty minutes later a team of doctors, nurses, and anesthesiologists were scrubbed up and performing an emergency c-section because his heart rate dropped rapidly. Turns out the cord was kinked so tightly nothing could get through, like a telephone cord. It was scary but not as scary as it would have been had we known what was coming that night when we walked into the hospital.
About 30 minutes later, our precious baby boy was born!! They immediately took him to the nursery and hooked him up to oxygen and an IV since his sugars were so low. He stayed on the IV until Friday when his respiration slowed enough for us to feed him and he came off of oxygen support 48 hours after he was born. He is a tough little guy. :)
We brought him home on Halloween night with a bili blanket for his jaundice and he will be on it at least through tomorrow. It is a lighted pad that has to be in contact with his skin 24/7, so we aren't able to carry him around the house but can still rock and feed and cuddle him...he just looks like a blue glow worm.

Ellie is the best, proudest, most excited and helpful big sister ever. She was literally jumping up and down in the driveway when we pulled up with him. She is constantly checking on him in his bassinet and bringing him toys and reading to him.
